About Our Art Products:
Original: This term is used frequently on our site to describe an original painting created by the artist. Angel paints using high quality acrylic professional paints. A painting may be recreated in a similar style as an original. Although the main components will be the same, each original will have slight variations as to preserve it's originality.
Commission: A commission is a special painting a customer wishes Angel to create. Angel has worked with numerous times to take a client's ideas and turn them into a reality on canvas. Commissioned work makes up a large percentage of our business. If you have an idea, or are looking for something special please don't hesitate to ask!
Fine Art Print: This term when used on our site refers to a fine art print on professional art paper. Our fine art prints are made using Giclee technology.
Giclee- (gee-clay) is a French word meaning to "spray" a liquid. A Giclees is a high-resolution, high-end reproduction done on a specialize large format printer that "sprays" ink onto the surface. Giclees are produced from digital scans of existing artwork. Giclees can be printed on any number of media, from canvas to watercolor paper to vinyl, prints on canvas. The colors are vivid, last longer, and have such a high-resolution that they are virtually 'continuous tone', rather than tiny dots. The ink is sprayed onto the canvas, actually mixing the color on the page to create truer shades and hues. The range, or "gamut" of color for giclees is extraordinary, and details are crisp. ( Angel prints on her giclees on fine art paper as well as canvas)
The Giclee process uses inkjet technology, but far more sophisticated than your desktop printer. The process employs six colors--light cyan, cyan, light magenta, magenta, yellow and black--of pigmented inks. Giclee prints are coveted by collectors for their fidelity and quality, and desired by galleries and artists alike because they so accurately reproduce the original art. Angel works very closely with her giclee printer, and checks each print for color accuracy, color correction and over all quality of each print. Doing so allows us to keep our prints consistent, vibrant and of the highest quality. Our prints are archival, and should last up to 85 + years without fading. When you buy a fine art print or giclee on canvas from us, expect to pass it down to future generations!
Giclee Print on Canvas: A giclee on canvas is a giclee print on stretched gloss canvas. A Giclee on Canvas looks just like what you would expect a real painting to look like. Many professional artists have trouble distinguishing our gicless on canvas from the real thing from across the room.
Our Fine Art giclee prints on stretched gloss canvas are made with giclee technology. With professional archival UV pigmented ink on archival canvas, our giclees will last over 100 years! If proper care is taken by not exposing the canvas to direct sunlight, your print is expected to last into future generations. Our beautiful fine art prints on canvas are ready to frame with no staples on the sides. Each canvas is accompanied with a certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist. Commonly giclees on canvas are also called reproductions.
Reworked / Retouched/Hand Embellished: or "re-painted" is a term used to describe a reproduction (typically a Giclee) that has been painted on top of the image by the artist. Paintng on a Giclee transforms the artwork into a "Giclee Original." This process doubles or even tripples the market value. Angel retouches her giclees on canvas to bring out the highlights and enhance the natural beauty of each giclee.
Poster Print:A poster print refers to an art print that is poster quality, usually made on a large offset digital printer. Poster prints are not archival and are printed on glossy paper. Posters are just what you think of when you think, poster.
